Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson, age 66, of Varney, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Michael was born on Feb. 14, 1955 to his parents the late Richard Johnson and Elsie Johnson. He was the husband of Cleo Johnson, a retired coal miner and coal truck driver, and he was also a member a clerk, and a Deacon at Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Michael was preceded in death by one son, Michael Douglas Johnson, three brothers, Gordon Johnson, Bruce Johnson, and Terry Johnson, and four sisters, Connie Johnson, Lilly Johnson, Ellie Johnson, and Twanie Johnson. Along with his wife, Cleo, Michael is survived by one daughter, Michelle (Mack) Newsome, one son, Roger (JoAnn) Johnson, two grandchildren, Mackinsey Newsome, Madison Newsome, and a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church. Church services will be Friday and Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021 at 1p.m. at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinette Cemetery at Varney, Ky.
