Nell May Taylor

June 2, 1925 — February 18, 2020

Nell May Taylor, age 94, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at her home in Hatfield, Ky. She was born on June 2, 1925 to her parents the late Dover May and Ella Bevins May. She was the wife of the late R.L. "Junior" Taylor, and a member of the Bent Branch Old Regular Baptist Church. Nell was self employed most of her life, owning a grocery store and gas station, but in her younger years, her sister Beatrice and she went to Dayton, Ohio during World War II near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where they worked for Inland Manufacturing Company. Beatrice wound coils for Army ships and Nell assembled riffles and riveted wings for airplanes. Along with her husband and parents, Nell was preceded in death by two sons, Randall Scott "Scotty" Taylor, Michael "Mikie" Taylor, her granddaughter and caregiver, Scotti Michelle Smith, four brothers, Ed, Jack, Walter, Fred, and five sisters, Gladys, Dorothy, Beatrice, Ruth, and Jean. Nell is survived by one daughter, Nancy C. Taylor-Evans and her husband James Earl Evans, one special great granddaughter, Taylor Smith-Walters, one special great grandson, Anthony Evans, three special nieces: Fay Curry Blackburn, Gay Curry Edmonds, Anna Sue Hayes, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Bent Branch Old Regular Baptist Church. Church service will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, February 21, 2020 at 1p.m. at the Bent Branch Old Regular Baptist Church with Michael Lowe and other Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Bent Ridge Cemetery at Meta.
