Randy Dale McCoy

    Randy Dale McCoy, age 69, of Cape Coral, Florida (Formerly of Elkhorn City)  passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in Florida.  Randy was born on May 23, 1955 in Pike County, Ky. to his mother the late Mary Belcher Thacker. He was a member of Elkhorn Baptist Church and he coached basketball for over 47 years.  Randy coached for several years at Pikeville College, Morehead State University, Elkhorn City High School, University Heights Academy in Hopkinsville, Ky., and East Ridge High School. The last school he coached at was Island Coast High School in Florida.  He was well respected for his coaching abilities.

     Randy was the husband of Cherri Brickey McCoy, and he is also survived by two half sisters, one half brother, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly.

     Visitation will be Tuesday from 6p.m. to 9p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.   There will be a short church service at 7p.m. on Tuesday.  The funeral will be Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 12 Noon at the Upike College Gym with Aaron Butler officiating.  Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Garden at Big Stone Gap, Va.
