Ray Edward Blackburn, age 90, passed away Monday, March 23, 2020 at his home. Ray was born on January 17, 1930 to his parents the late Corbet Blackburn and Mary Keene Blackburn Waldon. He was the husband of Nina Sue Carter Blackburn, a coal miner and former coal truck owner, a member of the Pentecostal church, and he was also a member of the UMWA. Along with his parents, Ray was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Blackburn, one son, Danny Edward Trivette, one brother, Robert Bob Blackburn, two sisters, Betty Sue and Bonnie. Along with his wife, Ray is survived by two daughters, Kathryn (Michael) Owens, Tammie Nelson, five sons, David Ray (Barbara) Blackburn, Freddie Edward Blackburn, Gregory Ray (Barbara) Blackburn, Stephen Mark Blackburn, Christopher Edward Blackburn, two brothers, Corbet (Lois) Blackburn Jr., Phillip Blackburn, four sisters, Imolene Metcalf, Berniece Ramey, Donna Rita, Leda Carol Branham, twenty two grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Family Only: Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, March 27, 2020 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery. Due to regulations that have been put in place by our Governor, we are requesting that no food or soft drinks be brought into the facility.
