Shirley Thornhill Compton

      Shirley Thornhill Compton, age 95, of Kimper, Ky., passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at her home.  Shirley was born on July 26, 1928, to her parents the late Charlie Thornhill and Bessie Moore Thornhill.  She was the wife of the late Sherman Compton, a homemaker, and a member of the Upper Grapevine Church of Christ.
       Along with her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by three sons:  Charlie Compton, Jack Compton, and Shannon Compton, three sisters:  Irene Preece, Alice Hyden, Delilah Nunn, and three brothers:  Charlie Thornhill, Lee Thornhill, and Johnny Thornhill, one granddaughter, Cynthia Stiltner, and one great-great granddaughter, Nikki Roberson.
     Shirley is survived by four children, Delores (Fon) Chapman, Robbie (Linda) Compton, Mack (Carol) Compton, Jill (Ken) Skortz, one brother, David Thornhill, one sister, Sue Thornhill Dotson, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, fifteen great great-grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild and a host of loving family and friends.
     Visitation will be Monday at 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home.  The funeral will be Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Dewayne Abshire officiating.  Burial will follow in the Daugherty Family Cemetery at Phelps.
