Sid Kinney, age 91, passed away Sept. 26, 2022, at the Hazard ARH Medical Center. Sid was born on March 13, 1931 to his parents the late Harry Kinney and Goldie Robinson Kinney. Sid lived many years on this earth and experienced a great deal of things. When born into this world times were different. He began working at a very young age to provide essential needs for himself. He joined the Army to avoid being in a poverty driven situation. While enrolled in the military he fought in the Korean War, in which he almost lost his life. If not for a fellow soldier returning to retrieve him from battle he would not of made it back home. Upon his return he met his late wife, Wyzona. They were married on October 25, 1955. A marriage that lasted 66 years. He became very easily embraced by Wyzona's family and instead of a brother in law was more of a brother to them all. Sid and Wyzona had no surviving children despite trying to form a family and having three children pass during pregnancy. Although they had no biological children of their own, so many claimed them as parents, second parents, grandparents and so forth. to those that were their "Children", Sid was known as Dad Dad. Sid was a man of faith. He enjoyed going to church when able. He prided himself on dressing in his suits and attending church services. He also enjoyed visiting with his family and going to see his "adopted" children. Always wanting to know how everyone was and checking on them. Between him and Zona they helped so many people but neither never wanted praise or recognition for what they did. They touched so many lives and became a part of so many peoples family. It is unreal of how amazing two people can integrate so much love, caring, and support in others lives. Sid was also a busy man, that was always tinkering on something. He was never known as one to stay inside. Despite age and health issues he would still keep going. During his down time you would see him sitting on his porch. A friendly hand thrown up or a yell down the holler. Sid "Dad Dad" Kinney will be greatly missed by so many people. His love for us never forgotten and his memory will be forever in our hearts. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 at 11A.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with David Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery
