Thelma Rogers Sword

Thelma Rogers Sword, age 89, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Pikeville Nursing and Rehab Center. Thelma was born on April 19, 1934 to her parents the late Cobbie Rogers and Minnie Adkins Rogers. She was the wife of the late Fred Sword, a homemaker, and a member of Creekside Church. Along with her husband and parents, Thelma was preceded in death by one son, Freddie Sword Jr., one daughter, Barbara Tucker, two still borns, Berniece Jean and Johnnie Eugene, two brothers and four sisters. Thelma is survived by one daughter, Brenda (Larry) Watson, four brothers, Jimmy Rogers, Billy Joe Rogers, Bobby Rogers, James E. Rogers, one sister, Doris Jean, five grandchildren, Dawn Watson, Scottie Watson, Joey Sword, Wesley Sword, Patricia Price, ten great grandchildren, Caylie, Jacob, Tanner, Freddie Charles, Jack, Daniel, Cody, Gabriel, Chris, and Chase, three great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023 at 11 A.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sword Family Cemetery at Right Fork of Island Creek.
