Verneil Sayers Ruble, age 77, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Verneil was born on Feb. 24, 1947 to her parents the late Wesley Ballard Sayers and Lena Florence Short Sayers. She was the wife of the late Harold Wayne Ruble, a homemaker, and former owner of Kodeman Trucking Company. Verneil was loving known as Nana by all who knew her, and she was a member of the Lick Creek Holiness Church. Verneil and her husband were avid drag racers, She was proud to be known as a wonderful cook and baker. Her specialties were chicken and dumplins and her famous apricot nectarine cake.
Along with her husband and parents, Verneil was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Sayers and Charles Lee Sayers and one sister, Eloise Sayers Owens.
Verneil is survived by one son, Greg, one daughter, Michelle (Sonny) Hackney Dales, one brother, Ray Sayers, five grandchildren, MyKenzi Rife, Kody (Brittany) Rife, Madison (Matt) Chaney, Taylor (Kesha) Hackney, Shane (Xena) Adkins, ten great grandchildren, Blakely, Brentlee, Sophia, Kolton, Jordyn, Allard, Johnnie, Luka, Kona, Emerson, special niece and nephew: Ashley Fannin and Adam Sayers, and a host of loving family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lick Creek Holiness Church. Church services will be Friday and Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 1p.m. at the Lick Creek Holiness Church with Rick Fuller, Danny Hess, and Chris Abshire officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Va.
