William Stanley Charles

William Stanley Charles, age 78, of Phelps, Ky. passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his residence. Stanley was born on January 31, 1945 to his parents the late Claude Charles and Bertha Maynard Charles. He was a retired coal miner from McCoy Elkhorn Coal Company for over 27 and a half years. He loved having cattle and he enjoyed farming so much. Along with his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by one son, Jamie Daugherty, and two sisters, Helen "Polly" Trent and Monica Jackson. Stanley is survived by one son, Claude David (Emily) Charles, one daughter, Caroline (Chris) Jessie, two brothers, Danny Charles, Sammy Charles, two sisters, Bonetta McClanahan, Claudette Pyszkowski, eight grandchildren, Chelsea (Taylor) Smith, Megan (Zack) Francis, Gracee Charles, Gunnar "Pistol" Charles, Ricky (Kayce) Adams, Kaitlyn (Josh) Adams, Tanner (Taylore) Daugherty, Colby (Hannah) Daugherty, eight great grandchildren, Kye, Koa, Axton, DeLani, Aleah, Alahna, Rylee, Addilyi, and a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jeff Trent officiating. Burial will follow in the Walter Charles Cemetery at Phelps, Ky.
