Woodrow W. Prater, age 88, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at his home. Woodrow was born on January 17, 1930 to his parents the late Peter Prater and Lizzie Bartley Prater. Woodrow was the husband of the late Sharlene Robinson Prater, a retired coal miner for Bethlehem Steel Coal Company, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. Along with his wife and parents, Woodrow was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Lynzie Faith Hamilton, and several brothers and sisters. Woodrow is survived by two sons, Robert (Linda) Prater, Jimmy (Phyllis) Prater, one daughter, Henrietta Prater, one step daughter, Dorothy Evans, three grandchildren, Telisa (James) Hamilton, Robert Brandon Prater, Nick Charles, eight great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Monday and Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Dale Sanders, Teddy Honaker, and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Prater Cemetery at Greasy Creek.
